Frequently asked questions.

Where is the wedding venue?

We’re getting married at Lumen House, located at 280 Rowan Rd., Cleveland, NC.

It’s approximately 45 minutes from Charlotte and about 2 hours from Durham.

Can I bring my kids to the wedding?

We’re planning an adults-only celebration with a peaceful ceremony and a reception that’s anything but PG.

While we adore your kiddos, we kindly ask that no children under the age of 7 attend the wedding, especially during the ceremony. Unexpected noises during our vows or speeches could take away from the moment, and we want everyone to be fully present.

Children may attend the reception, but please note: there will be adult language, music, and alcohol — viewer discretion is advised! We want the night to feel fun, free, and unapologetically us.

Can I bring a plus one?

Due to limited space, this will be an invite-only event. We are unable to accommodate additional guests or plus-ones at this time.

What’s the dress code?

Formal attire in neutral tones is requested. Please wear solid-colored attire in soft, neutral shades like tan, taupe, champagne, mocha, beige or black.

We kindly ask guests to avoid bright colors, bold prints, or patterns to help keep our photos clean and cohesive.

Why is the wedding on a thursday?

March 26 is our anniversary, and in 2026, it falls on a Thursday. We chose to get married on that exact date because it holds so much meaning for us.

Fun fact: Jerry also proposed to Alexis on a Thursday — so it’s officially our favorite day of the week!

how do you pronounce the couple’s last name?

Jerry comes from a Haitian background, and his last name, Donatien, is of French origin.

It’s pronounced: Doh-nah-SEE-in.
